She Sells Radio

Mar 10, 2020

This week’s guest is the incredible Scott Aaron. He’s an internationally acclaimed and award-winning network marketer, business coach, author, speaker, and podcaster. His specialty is being the go-to expert when it comes to converting traffic, establishing connections, creating residual income and using LinkedIn. Today, he shares his incredible journey and his top strategies and tips for network marketing.

Scott’s story is one of massive highs and crushing lows. He shares his story about how he became a millionaire at just 20 years old, and how he dealt with an overwhelming amount of challenges. From making millions to losing millions; dealing with his father’s incarceration, and being divorced twice, Scott was able to reframe his mindset and start fresh. He knew he wanted to do more, and had more than 65,000 hours of one on one client meeting time, so he took his next step into network marketing.

Elyse and Scott discuss his transition in network marketing, and how he grew his success through LinkedIn. He touches on how he needed to pivot in order to have more real, meaningful conversations with those in his space. He shifted his perspective from himself to those who he wanted to serve. In just a few months, he had 30-40 calls every week. The connections he was making helped build his business to the place it is today. He identified a problem a large number of people had and offered a solution--success followed.

Scott dives into the top strategies he teaches in 2020 to connect and build a network on LinkedIn. He reminds us to build our content without the “likes” or “views” in mind. Act, he says, as if you don’t know who is seeing your posts. As long as people are engaged in any form, you are making an impact. Trying to “figure out” the algorithm is a losing battle--it will always change and will continue to change--there’s nothing we can do about it!

He moves on to four things he teaches his clients:

First, he suggests including keywords on your LinkedIn profile--otherwise, you’re invisible on the platform. Making sure every section is filled out with pertinent language will make you show up in searches. This includes the recommendation section--written recommendations can give you a massive boost in visibility. He offers his strategy of exporting your list of connections and highlighting those who would vouch for you, and simply asking for a brief recommendation.

His second tip is the actual building of your network. It’s important to identify the avatar you want to connect with, so writing down one or two professions or job titles that are most suited for what you provide. Then, be sure that they are clearly represented in your profile.

Third, he talks about the importance of getting clear on your messaging. Word vomit doesn’t build a network. There’s a process to messaging someone--waiting a day or two to message someone speaks volumes. First, state their name. Then, inform the person why you reached out without an ask. Lastly, finish with a call to action. You have to ask to get.

His fourth and final strategy regarding LinkedIn networking is based on content. Right now, visibility has never been higher. You have to be the champion of great content. Doing things that others aren’t is what is going to build your network. One form of content every day is a great way to swim upstream. The more than you give, the more you’ll get back. Articles, videos, quotes, anything at any time of day, will move the needle in your favor.
